        I started in the vioin trade as an apprentice repairer and restorer. now my company Martyn J Bailey Luthier Ltd  here in the UK continues as its core activety to offer  a complete repair and   restoration service for violins, violas, cellos and double basses.    Whether you are a student, amateur or professional player, collector, museum or the trade, I offer the same high standard of work and service. No job is too small, nor  too large; I undertake work from minor adjustments and repairs to complete rebuilds, 5 string double bass conversions and left handed double bass conversions are also under taken.        I normally try to make each year a limited number of new handmade cellos and basses, please see Martyn Bailey cellos for sale and Martyn Bailey double basses . Jay Haide cellos  can be found in the cellos for sale section, also in  the Double basses for Sale section details can be found of the Jay Haide Quenoil  and Jay Haide Panormo  and other double basses which I have in stock. I make  double bass extentions for players wanting those lower notes but without the need  for an extra string. I  offer a carefully selected range of Accessories and fittings, recent additions to the range  are the beautifully made Baker pattern double bass machine heads that are now being made exclusively for me here in the UK, see Double Bass Machines section in the main menu, and the Col Legno carbon fibre bows.    I hope you will find my web site  of interest, thank you for your visit. 

 

VAT

       VAT has increased as of the 1st January  2009 in the UK, however I will only be increasing prices on  new stock as and when it arrives.
